Traveling like a Bohemian at Any Age
I'm no longer 20 years old, but when I travel, I enjoy
staying at off the beaten track places, filled with mystery, romance
and intrigue. As a corporate traveler, I
certainly was accustomed to traveling in style, yet these days, I travel mostly with a backpack and an idea, for periods extending a month or more. I don't worry about where I'll end up each day, allowing inspiration and the Universe to guide me
where I need to be for I know I will be there when I need to make the most connections to
aid me in my own spiritual development while I help the people I meet along the
way.
To do this you have to step out of your comfort zone and smile as you greet the people that cross your path. I fly into one city and out another, not concerned with where I'll end up each evening, booking only the first couple of days and last day from my jump out point.
Staying in 2-3 stay accommodations each evening seems to save my budget, but more often, it allows me to connect with others on a similar path. Although it's happened, rarely have I met or spoken to those I need to connect with in the 5 star resorts. Where I stay there are no airs; no one cares what you do, where you live or what you drive. That's what I love about it as I try and live a more humble life of service to others.
It this Bohemian way of traveling, toting only what I can
fit in a backpack that I enjoy most of all. Even
when I'm on speaking engagements in the US or abroad, I travel with only a small piece of luggage as I go where my individual
journey takes me before I have to be on stage speaking to audiences. If I'm to
give any advice to my fellow spiritual travelers it's this:
"It's always the journey and not the destination that matters most for its the sum total of all our life experiences that shape us into who we are."
The people that truly care about you don't care where you stay on your journey and the only person you have to impress is yourself, so impress yourself with your experience and the people you meet along the way.

My question to friends and colleagues is always the same,
“What did you experience and feel?”
