Bath - Around Town
It was 5am and I found myself wide awake here in Bath. My sleep was so restful in the Elinor Dashwood room of the Three Abbey Green accommodations. By 6, I decided to take a walk around the town while tourist and resident alike where still fast asleep.
I took out my trusty map and plotted a course that would get me back in time for a well prepared English breakfast.
I strolled up the main road, making a left by St. Michaels. It seemed as if only the birds were awake at this hour as the sun was still low in the sky.
I meandered through the side streets, coming up on the Circus, an impressive grand circle of row homes fashioned around a small round park, a huge tree its centerpiece. I stood there for a few moments admiring the architecture before making my way to the Royal Cres and Royal Victoria Park.
The park was green and lush with benches along the main pathways. I sat there for a while taking in the scene, snapping photos of squirrels as they played. I took in the flower gardens as I made my way back down to Quiet Street.
It was there that I heard the sounds of Frank Sinatra coming from what I thought was a recording.
As I neared closer to that melodic voice, I realized that it was live, yet I knew that Frank was no where to be found. I discovered that the sound ambrosia was coming from a butcher shop from the cords of the proprietor as he stocked his refrigerated case in the window. I smiled as he invited me in and joined him in a duet, a tribute to the great master himself.
My insides started to tingle the more I sang with this amazing man, renewing my belief that I can continually connect my joyous energy with others who experience the same, eternally grateful for these opportunities.
It just proves that you never know where you will find a
chance to dance or sing with a kindred spirit as we stay in that beautiful
state of “Being Love.”
